It was Inevitable

I knew it was only a matter of time! Swine Flu aka H1N1 hit our home. Scary at first just because of all the talk. Being currently uninsured going to the doctor really has to be needed.

It all started when I was helping in Aubree's classroom and Malulani walks in complaining about her asthma. I calmed her down and told her to relax she came in from recess and she just needed to breath. After a while she decided to go back to class. She had no other symptom. Just trouble breathing. I left her and told her I am just down the street and that I would come back to check her out early if I needed to. One hour later low and behold a phone call from none other than Malulani and she is having difficulty breathing. Being currently out of her inhaler, I thought I better take her to the doctor. I brought her home and she slept. At 6pm that night the fever hit and it was intense. It was a long night but the next morning I took her to the doctor and she tested positive for the swine flu. Then the decision came on whether or not to fill the tamaiflu. We opted to not fill it. Our reasoning's.....

A. She is farely healthy and a fighter

B. It's expensive

C. The doctor said most people throw up it anyways (what a waste of money)

D. We don't DO RX unless we NEED to (and we felt that we didn't need to)

Her fever only lasted 24hrs not to bad but it was a mean one. Even with Ibuprofen her fever was 101. We quarantined her she was only allowed to come out to use the bathroom and that was with a mask and of course I was following behind her sanitizing. She was literally bored to tears!!! I tried so hard to keep her in the room and happy. With many books, ipod, DS, crafts, I even went in the room when every else was gone or napping and played games with her. I think one of those times the piggy flu caught me by the tail. Luckily we are good and well. Malulani was begging to go to school after a week of missing it. Nobody else has caught it and hopefully we are good for now.

The doctor told me some interesting facts about the swine flu.....only 70% is coming back positive. The accuracy of the test is NOT catching all cases. This could be one of the reasons why it's spreading so fast. Both the doctor and the school said it's bad in Clinton. She works in Layton and Clinton and she said that cases are so much higher out here. West Clinton Elementary is at a 20% swine infected. OK so when do you shut down a school 50%?

Word to the wise anything with a fever (among the other symptoms) should be checked out-In my opinion. Educate. Wash. Be Smart.

On the Road again.....

Quick trip to Page, Arizona aka Lake Powell. Although we never went in the lake too much to do. My cousin needed to reroof his roof. So it wasn't exactly all fun especially for Dave!
Here is Dave and Maile on the roof. I think I was more nervous than her. She has no fear...ok maybe to strangers.
Since Maile went up so did some of the other kids. There's Dave the Paul J (my cousin), My two girls then Taylor (my cousins daughter), and Tony aka Uncle Funny (my bro).
It's rare if I even get Maile to look at the camera let alone smile. I am sure I take way too many pictures.
This is my bros girlfriend, Demi, I took some preggo pictures. She is 34 wks along and she looks the same way I do when I am about 20 wks. The really cool thing about them having a baby is that Malulani gets to name him!!!!
This is the "Beehive" if you look at it at the right angle it really looks like one.
Needless to say a short trip L O N G drive. In those six hours the was a lot of "are we there yet" (manly from me) catching up on this and that. Dave was trapped in that car and no where else to go so, he got to hear me go on and on....and on. Lots of air guitars and air drumming being played by yours truly! The kids did really well! I think I was there entertainment...............
And this is me being bored!!!! I wanted to see how a dog feels when he sticks his head out a window.
Dave couldn't believe that I wanted to do this let alone that I am posting it. But the kids where amused. I wanted them to do it to but Dave was right maybe not the safest for them! I wanted the whole lip flapping in the wind-oh well. Now I see why dogs get sooo thirsty. JEALOUS? DON'T HATE I look good :)
....Now I know you want to try it!!!
